Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 Laptop Review

As you might know, Fujitsu makes really good laptops. It is one of the more successful Japanese laptop manufacturers (Sony and Toshiba are another two). If you compare Fujitsu laptops with other brand names at the same price range, you will find that the features in the Fujitsu model usually beat out the rest.

In this article, we will take a look at the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 laptop. This is one of the latest laptops to come out to the market, and it offers a host of interesting features for the home and business user.

Best 13 Inch Laptop

1. Overview

First up, let's take look at the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 on the whole. The machine packs in an optical drive and great battery life, all into a 2.8-pound frame. Selling for ,000 on the market, the P8100 replaces the older Fujitsu P7230 model. You get a dual-layer DVD burner, a 12-inch LED screen and (typically) over 5 hours of battery life. The machine is a great buy and should definitely be one to consider if you're shopping for an ultraportable.

2. Design

Design-wise, the Fujitsu P8010 has dimensions of 11.2 by 8.4 by 1.4 inches (HWD). It is contained in a 2.8-pound frame, and incorporates a 12-inch screen. Arguably, the 12-inch screen is a direct response to competing models like the Toshiba Portégé R500 and the Panasonic Toughbook W5. Unfortunately, size wise, it cannot really defeat the Apple MacBook Air, which has miraculously squeezed a 13-inch widescreen into a 3 pound unit.

3. Display

The display screen on the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 is an ample 15.4 inches and allows you to watch movies and play games very comfortably. The color reproduction is crisp and sharp, and you'll have no complaints with image resolution or clarity.

3. Keyboard and Other Controls

One thing some folks may not like is the lack of a full-size keyboard. You get a 91 percent keyboard which is definitely smaller than the full-sized ones on the MacBook Air, Portégé R500, and the Toughbook W5. Still, although its typing experience is not ideal, the Fujitsu P8010 has nice and quiet mouse buttons and is still a well-designed piece of machinery.

4. Ports and Connections

Talk about connections. The Fujitsu 8010 has a ton of ports and connections. A dual-layer DVD burner. Three USB ports beats out the Apple MacBook Air's single USB port. A FireWire port. A fingerprint reader. A 4-in-1 card reader. What more could you want?

5. Battery Life

The Fujitsu P8010 has amazing battery life. And I mean amazing. You take its low-voltage processor and 63-Wh battery, and you will produce over 5 hours of battery life. This is usually unheard of in the world of ultraportables.

6. Shortcomings

No major shortcomings in the Fujitsu P8010, save for its lack of a full-sized keyboard and slighlty premium price tag. Performance wise, with 2GB of RAM, the P8010 cannot outperform its competitors like the Sony SZ791N, the Dell XPS M1330, and the ASUS U6S. However, its performance is still extremely good compared to older generation laptops.

Conclusion

On the whole, if you can overlook the lack of a full-sized keyboard, the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 is ideal as an ultraportable laptop computer. If you're on the move a lot, and don't mind paying a bit extra for quality, the Fujitsu P8010 is the perfect laptop for you. Of course, some folks might consider competing brands like Apple, Lenovo and Sony, but in my opinion, the P8010 stands up well to those other brands. So until next time, good luck and happy computing!

Recommendations For the Best Laptops For College Students

Laptops are very popular because of their performance and adjustability. The main advantage of a laptop over typical personal computers is that you can carry it around with you. You can use it anywhere like in park, library, bus and car etc.

Students need laptops for many reasons. They use laptops for research, for studies, for projects and for entertainment. Now the question is what type of laptops are best for college students and how much should they spend on purchasing the laptop. These questions are answered below.

Best 13 Inch Laptop

Laptops for college students should provide very good performance, should have internet access so that students may do research online. Laptops for college students must have these features. First of all the size of the laptop matters, it should not be ignored. The size of the LCD is usually of 13 to 15 inches; otherwise the laptop would become too heavy to carry it around campus.

The laptop should have RAM at a minimum of 2GB and 160GB hard disk. 2GB would be enough to provide good performance that is required by the students. The storage capacity of 160 GB is more than enough. Students can store e-books, lectures, music, movies, pictures etc. Graphics are also important especially for students because they play computer games and most of the students show their interest in photo editing etc. For this purpose there should be fairly nice graphics card. NVIDIA is well known company for graphics card.

The laptop should be stylish and attractive. So the students should choose laptops which are good looking. There are many colors and designs available in the market. One of the important things that should be considered is price. Students should decide whether he/she should purchase a high priced laptop, low priced laptop or used laptop. Laptops should have WiFi and Bluetooth technology, decent battery life, sufficient number of ports, anti-theft device, and a 1 year warranty.

Here are 5 of the best laptops that are suitable for college students and have almost all of these features. Dell Studio 15 is probably the best having a 2 Duo Core processor, decent battery life, 2 mega pixel built in camera, and a good sound system. The HP Pavilion dv2 is a thin, lightweight laptop with 4GB\'s of RAM, and a good battery life of 4 hours. The other three laptops are the Apple MacBook, Sony Vaio VGN-CS215J/W and Acer Extensa EX4630-4922.

If you are a student of computer graphics then you should look into laptops that have powerful RAM and a better graphics card. If you are a business student then avoid purchasing fancy and bright looking laptops.

Comparative Analysis - Different Types of Laptops

Now computers are important part of the life for many people. Computers can be different: mobile, stationary, special, universal, and so on. For a regular user, there are two major types of computers: desktop and laptop (notebook). Notebook mobility enables you to move around freely and easily while holding or using a laptop. These days, laptop manufacturers make a wide range of different types of laptops - thin/light, portable, ultra-portable, netbooks, desktop replacements, etc. The performance of current high-end notebook is sufficient for running most software applications.

A thin and light laptop is almost the same as regular one but optimized in terms of weight and size. These laptops can be different in terms of their price and performance. They are able to perform most computing tasks on a certain level. They perform better than ultraportable laptops but they are smaller and more portable than regular notebooks (although may have the same LCD panel size). These laptops are designed for those people who travel a lot, who want a system that is simple and useful enough, and who prefer to sacrifice computing power for portability.

Best 13 Inch Laptop

The type of mini notebook, ultraportable laptop computer (sometimes, called subnotebook) is smaller and lighter than a typical notebook. However, it is able to run a normal desktop operating system. Subnotebooks often have smaller LCD screens (less than 13 inches). Usually smaller sizes and weights are accomplished by taking out ports (or having removable disc drives). However, most of them can be paired with docking stations to become fully-functional notebooks.

There are mini notebooks with a new concept that commonly called netbooks. They are even less expensive than mini notebooks. Their major feature is an optimization for using as portable Internet capable devices. Netbooks made compact as much as possible although powerful enough for most common applications such as web browsers, e-mail, word processing, presentation and other simple software. ASUS EEE PC was the first netbook model of a such new class of systems.

A few years ago it was unimaginable that notebooks could come close to the performance of desktops. Nevertheless, current top technologies allow making your notebook performance almost equal to the performance of a desktop. The notebooks that called "desktop replacement notebooks" are designed to be complete systems that have almost equivalent processing power and capability to desktop systems but in a mobile package. Current high-end desktop replacement notebooks should be capable of replacing a desktop computers in many areas soon. Their performance is getting close to desktop performance. However, their cost is greater and they are larger and bulkier than regular notebooks.

Comparing laptops and desktops, we need to note that laptop processors (CPU) differ from their desktop counterparts. The reasons for this is a limited amount of power they have to run and difficulties to provide good temperature conditions. To do this, the manufacturers use different tricks such as CPU scaling where a processor scales its power usage (and consequently, performance) to the tasks. This presents a major challenge in balanced performance and power consumption. The less power the laptop uses, the longer the system should be able to run on batteries.

Another disadvantage of using laptops is that laptop's keyboard and mouse may be not so convenient as it is with desktop. Also an extra-big screen size may be the most important parameter for some types of works. Therefore, the desktops that have been specially designed as servers, or ones for professional video processing, complex computing, scientific research, may never be replaced by notebooks. To this end, desktop replacement notebooks may never be the same as the top-end desktops.
